spongy brakes after new Master Cyl
Dealership replaced Master Cylinder/Rotors/pads and calipers 18 months ago/4,000 miles ago because of a spongy brake pedal problem.
Problem has returned again, had my BMW mechanic double bleed each brake and 3 master cylinder lines (only cost $25.00) so air is not the problem. Dealership says that I need another new Master Cylinder. Since work was done over a year ago, they don't feel responsible or willing to replace the 4,000 mile part.
(A) Can I get a rebuild kit for my 90 LS400?
(B) Did the fact that the car was garaged for 14 months contribute to the failure?
(C) Anything I'm overlooking or should be checking?

well..you can try this. with the car not running, pump the brakes to get rid of any pwr assist(no air left in the booster) then see how the pedal feels..it should be very solid..if not there is some air left somewhere in the system or you could have a caliper that has a stiff or seized slider..these are the most common problems for the symptom you describe.
