Default Clear taillight conversion

Darn,

I told myself numerous times that I wasn't going to do this but I guess the mod. bugs are just too much for me to overcome.

Anyway, I've been contemplating the idea of clearing out a set of 96' taillights I just bought. According to my search, only one person on this forum has done this mod. and posted his experiences (I think he has a white SC4).

Before I get started on this, I was hoping to get some more advices/comments from the rest of you that had done the same thing. Please help me out. Your inputs would be greatly appreciated.

Here are some of my questions:

1. Is there any chance of me damaging the taillights by baking them @ 250 degrees for 5 minutes in the oven? I read somewhere that these taillights will deform and go out of alignment once they get too hot. How do I prevent this from happening?

2. Does anyone have pix of his/her SC with cleared out taillights that I can look at?

3. Any problem with moisture getting into the taillight assembly (as the headlights do) after this conversion?

4. Has anyone done this conversion not using the plastic diffuser inside the taillight? I wonder if leaving the diffuser out would make the clear taillight look better/cleaner.

5. Anything else that I should know before doing this conversion?

I think I am just going to stick with the stock bulbs so LEDs are out of question for now.

Any brief or detailed instruction would definitely help!

Thanks in advance.

Jon

Thank you very much!

That's exactly what I needed.

Before I do this, I would like to have your opinions as to whether I should really clear out my taillights.

I know that the clear taillights look really nice on lighter colored cars such as white, silver, etc. But I am not quite sure if I should do it on my jade green SC4.

What do you all think?

Thanks again.

I have a green SC & I'll be doing the conversion when I eventually attain a pair 95-96 tails (cough cough $114 each) o excuse me. I think it looks really clean, def. a more modern style. Do whatever ya want!

Sorry,

I tried and really couldn't find the post. Hope you didn't take this too personal.

I did give you the number to the place where I bought my taillight from though. Hope you'll come across a pair soon.

No no no. I'm just kidding. I guess I'm just a little bitter about this subject because I've had two set deals fall through & I've made countless contacts for nearly a YEAR, each ending in nothing but disappointment! I can't quite bring myself to mess around with new lights, but this frustration is getting me pretty close doing so. Good luck with whatever you decide to do Baby.
