Quality bulbs in cheap ballasts
I noticed one of my 4yr old HID bulbs is starting to die (I verified it's the bulb and not the ballast). The current bulbs and ballasts are more or less your average aftermarket quality HID equipment. I was considering picking up Philips 4300k D2R bulbs (instead of cheaper aftermarket bulbs) and using them with my current ballasts...but I'm wondering if the quality of the Philips bulbs would be negated by the cheap aftermarket ballasts? In all fairness the ballasts are 4+ yrs old and as far as I can tell are still running strong, but they aren't what I'd consider high end factory quality. I'm not an expert on HID equipment so if I'm right or wrong please let me know.
