Question Changing the headlight wire harness/connectors...

Has anyone converted their headlight harness/connectors so they can apply a different bulb type? The 9004 bulb type on my '91 LS400 doesn't satisfy me in terms of light output, so I was wondering if I could possibly change it to 9005 or 9006 bulbs using one of these harnesses from Autodyamic???

you can change the wire/connector, but the reason why it would not work is because the bulb won't fit into the housing correct

your welcome, i should warn you before hand though.

i'm not very familar with the 9004 bulb but i'm guessing its around 55w. you are saying you are looking for brighter bulbs, just make sure its not more than 10-15 watts more then the stock wattage. if it is, it will produce more heat than the wires can handle and WILL melt them. if you are really serious about brighter light output get real HID's. it can be acquired for around 300-400 or so nowadays for a decent kit. search the LS forum i remeber readon a few owners putting hID in and it looks very nice

45w actually. I wasn't talking about just changing the bulb, but the connector/harnesses itself so I can use a higher wattage bulb than the 9004 such as a 9005/9006...etc. Besides, I've already learned on my own that changing to those wannabe "HID" bulbs from no name brands melt the connectors (on my 1st car). But yeah, till I get more funds saved up for real HIDs, I've decided to settle for PIAA Xtreme Whites for now.
