Unhappy

I just bought my 98 GS300 used, but this one doesn't have HID light in it, and i really really want those lights in my car. I'm now still struggle between a after market add on or just go to the Lexus dealer and ask for one. Does any one ever have any proplems with the aftermarket ones, or have any idea how much the deal will charge for the system plus installation? Any reply is greatly apriciated, thanx...

IMO OEM would be the way to go. I havent seen many aftermarket HID kits that look as good as factory

I would go with the OEM HID'S. You might get a deal from someone on those lights.

Actually, I just bought a set of AFTERMARKET HID light from www.importtrenz.com. It cost me only $450 and they look great!! It is very close to the OEM minus the auto leveling. It is very bright and very white. You will have to adjust the light a little bit so that it won't blind the other drivers since the light beams quite high. But overall, I think it is definitely worth it unless you are willing to spend over $1500 for the OEM. Reliability remains an unknown issue, however, it is the most bang for the buck aftermarket HID I've found.

The OEM ones gonna cost you $1300 each from the dealer. Housing is $340, bulb $300 plus balster and auto-level $600. It'll be a lot cheaper to go after market ones.

No you cant get the HID to match the day time runnig lights.. HID dont work the same as normal bulbs, I also got Pure white blubs for the high bean (day time also ) but when you high beam its white but the day time it looks like stock.. I think there is no way the change the color. Its not bright enough to put any color....

Default PIAA's 150 watt' super white

hey there, there is one more option, which is much cheaper. go for the PIAA's 150watt's conversion (stock is 80watt) it's so bright you won't be able to tell the difference from the stock HID. we tested (me ted, and justin) it's almost as bright as HID in every way. ) i have the superplasma purple which is 150 watt too, i am teling you, this thing is reliable and very long lasting. why don't you save money for something else (at least 500+) and get the same look!? just a thought. I luv piaa, it's the best in halogen lightning bulb. you wont' regret it.

Where are you getting your OEM HID installed for $550? Just the parts cost more than that...Do you have some special hookup or something?

I'm confused here, is there a difference between the 2001 lexus HID compared to 1998-2000 Lexus HID's???

Hey guys ... Well this guy at the show came up to me and said that he can get the stock hid headlight and install it for 550 . he said he can come over and install it at my house ... and to answers the other question : the hid is the same but the crome housing has a blue tint in it unlike the 98-2000 models. it looks nice... the three main difference between the 98-2000 and the 2001 is the headlight color housing , grill and the tailight....

I didn't believe it when my friend told me that the headlight color is different between the 2001 and 98-00. Guess it's true. Is there a way to change the chrome housing so my lights would have a blue tint in them also?
