HID's from another car wit 9006 bulbs

Ok,

so i used to drive a 05 chevy impala. and i bought like headlight projectors for it and everything. then my fren went ahead and bought me some 30k HID's for it. but since i'm now getting a SC400, and i was looking around on some sites, and they said it used 9006 bulbs as well. could i just plug in the HID's into the SC? or will it burn sumtin out or sumtin? cuz it already has projectors right? and yes on the box it said 30k. -_- frens.

Peace out

wth..30k!! it should work since theyre both 9006.

The projectors in the SC400 are not designed for HID. You can use a plug-n-play kit as long as the bulbs are 9006, but I can't tell you what your output will be like.

hmmm...alright. if the projectors aren't designed for HID's then...what will it do? and what do u mean " can't tell me what the output will be like"?

also idk if my frens are trying to scare me or anything but, they said one time one of there frens had there HID's melt the plastic. also another said be careful to not kill the wiring harrness. is that possible?

Peace out

emoshun, i tried registering, and i used my AOL account, and i didn't get anything, so i thought it had sumtin to do wit AOL, cuz other forums i went on had problems wit that too. but i used my edu account and i still didn't get anything...how long does it take to get the email?

oooor....can someone just copy and paste? =)

Peace out

with our projectors you get hot and cold spots meaning there are brighter areas then others... where as a projector that is designed to accpmpany HID's will have a wide and even output. light output from PNP HID are still at least 3 times better then the stock halogen. Also the cut off line of the stock is not as sharp as those designed for HID. if you have the money and the time I recommend doing a retrofit. Im still waiting on my parts for that project. but as of right now I have PNP 6000K. its not bad but its not great.

PNP?...whats that? and does anyone know how it looks like if i just throw them in using the stock one, even though it won't come out as good. will it just like shine all over the place? or i can angle it some how?

Peace out

plug and play...yes you can adjust and as long they're 9006 then they're good...what they look like is the above pics

breakb Feb 6, 2008 08:12 PM

really? o not so bad then, haha. anyone know what color 30k gives off? my frens said purple.

so there's no chance of shorting out or anything because it's so high?

o yeah, also. if i do want to get the headlights thats use HID's where would i get them?

Peace out

Kaydee Feb 6, 2008 09:31 PM

i think that's a typo...the highest ive ever heard of is 12k...it won short out because 4k,6k,12k etc is just the light output or something?? help me guys

if you wnat real HIDs the you have to do a retrofit (custom fabrication where oem HID from another car is transplanted into your housing) be prepared to shell out $$$$

the K is short for Kelvin which is referring to the color temperature on a light scale, all the bulbs still run on 35 Watts I beleive or was it 55 that come from the ballast. so to answer the question of it shorting out no it will not. so if you dont like the color you can just change the bulb and thats it. I dont recommend anything higher then 6000k, I had 8000k before these and after long periods it puts strain on your eyes espically for highway driving and the road signs reflected a odd purple color. As you go higher on the temperature scale you will see a decrease in illumination of the road. also when it rains and the roads are slick black it wont even look as if your lights are on.

hmmm i c. well, i'll just try put um in and see how it goes, lol. how hard is it to remove the headlights, since i have not done it yet? i remember when my cousin was doing his scion tc he had to take off his whole front bumper to do things with his headlights...

Peace out

breakb... there is one bolt to take off when you open the hood... another 2 bolts are under the wheel well if you remove the lining. Just reach for the outer part of the lights and you should find them. Once you get everything unbolted just wiggle the light around until it pops out but be careful not to scratch your paint.

But to just put the bulbs in you dont have to take off the actual light housing.

I have HID's plug and play 6,000k and they are definitely an improvement from stock however, a retrofit is the optimum choice for the best light output quality. Either TSX projectors, bosch e49 projectors.

Has anyone ever tried doing a Acura TL retro? theyre cuttoff seems to be really nice too.
