im sorry guys... hoping you can help me. i have a 01 gs430 with factory HIDs. but i have the headlights blacked out and its hard to see at night. im looking for an upgrade to make these lights brighter. id prefer to keep them the same color but i need them brighter so i can actually see at night. do i need to replace the whole hids set or can i upgrade bulbs.. please help.

I realize some of these threads are old. But I just replaced my HID bulb and posting to multiple places so the next person can more quickly find info.

My passenger-side HID went out on my 2010 RX350 recently. I decided to replace the bulb myself to rule out the ballast and save money.

I wanted the same color so I purchased the Phillips 4300K D4S bulb from Amazon ($41, love Prime) instead of local Napa ($101) or dealer ($175). I also picked up 10-pack cover clips ($8) since old ones wouldn't hold very well.

I removed the clips/cover per the manual, disconnected the battery +cable, and followed these 9 steps: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es350-2007-2012/549357-hid-headlight-replacement.html

After reassembling everything, the headlight fired up but I lost usual seat/radio presets due to power disconnection. The unlabelled bulb was obviously fried.

Hi all,
i need to know if the inside part of an HID headlamp, the part that holds the xenon bulb, can be changed, is that what the dealership would do if the bulb socket was damaged (melted) ? Or would I need to replace the whole headlamp assembly ?
