Question HID advice

Hello everyone, I was looking for some advice from people. I have a 98 LS400 with regular lights and I wanted to upgrade to HID's, and had some questions.

1. Would I be better off getting the headlights form an LS that had HID's and just getting a wiring harness, ballast a a regular D2S bulb. Or should I just get the kit with a rebased bulb and use my stock headlights?

2. Also if anyone out there has done this, what is involved in switching the headlight from the Halogen version to the HID version.

Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Craig

if you want to do it right, yes, get the ls400 hid housing, with the ballats and the bulbs. i am not sure though, i thought the ls400 has the reflective housing, if that's the case it should be d2r. that will give you the best light output and pattern.

otherwis eyou can just get the hid kits that fits in your housing (9006, etc...). it's usually cheaper but the light output won't be as good and you might get some glare

i had hid kits and now full oem hid headlights in my gs4, worth the change if you ask me

rominl, Thanks for the advice. I will be getting the HID housing. One other question, Should I use the ballast that I get with an aftermarket kit, or would I be better off trying to get the ballasts that come with the car, as well as the wiring harness. Also how will the autoleveling of the housing work with an aftermarket kit.

Thanks again,

Craig

i would just use the ballasts and bulbs that come with the housing. it's always good quality. no matter you get new housing or hid kits autoleveling won't work at all. it involves sensors and stuff on the wheels, too hard to do
