Lexus LFA “Special Edition” Prototype Spied On The ‘Ring
Lexus LFA production run of 500 units is almost sold out, but there is always room for special editions. Lexus is very likely going to introduce a new special edition of their LFA supercar that is currently being tested at the Nürburgring.
At first the prototype looks similar to the Nürburgring Edition with its big rear wing, but at closer inspection you will notice a carbon fibre bonnet with new air intake, carbon fibre roof, new never before seen bright colour and at the rear the three middle exhausts are replaced with double exhaust tips under the rear lights. There is also a new rear diffusor.
The Nürburgring Edition package had an engine output increased by 10bhp to 562bhp and faster shifts in the six-speed sequential transmission.
We don’t know what Lexus will call this special edition LFA, but we expect to see it at a major car show end of this year or in early 2013.

That is amazing! Looks like an updated Nurburgring edition LFA with possibly more horsepower (600+ HP??)
The rear looks very different especially the diffuser part so it must be a new variant.
I am happy to see that there is now a possibility that LFA will continue production next year with this new updated LFA and hopefully see it again in racing.

Lots of interesting details. New front lip, looks to be an adjustable fixed wing, relocated exhaust, larger winglets, larger rear valence and larger c/f side splitters........hmmmmmm

I am confused at the exhaust. The exhaust seems to be covered so I am perplexed at how the exhaust gasses are getting expelled??

No way twin turbo (I hope it never is either God forbid) since Lexus will have problems in the endurance racing and also ruin the V10 sound. My guess is it will definitely be a naturally aspirated V10 extracting more power (either more HP/Liter or a slightly bigger displacement V10) and possibly even a higher redline (the chief engineer had at one point expressed his wish to give LFA a 10,000 rpm redline to strengthen the F1 roots of the engine, but Lexus corp did not let him).

It could be a good way to throw people off by disguising an LF-LC like that. However, I doubt it is anything but a variant of LFA since the dash and proportions are identical to an LFA while the LF-LC has a longer wheelbase due to the 2 + 2 configuration.
Wish there was a video so that we can better analyze the sound of the engine etc.
My guess is, the radiators have been moved somewhere else and the exhaust routing in the camouflage is where the radiators used to be.

Whoever can determine what the AD-A printed on the sides may hold the key to this mystery mule
Love the vortex thingies on the rear fenders
Not liking the way the hood fits the fenders at the windshield
