Lexus LFA “Special Edition” Prototype Spied On The ‘Ring

The aero enhancements look really interesting. Bigger winglets, vortex generators, front splitter, side splitter, door treatment (top edge), side skirting, HUGE diffuser....
Colour me intrigued.

A very interesting LFA.
With the exhaust pipes crowding out the radiators, I have to guess this car requires less cooling than the 'normal' LFA. Maybe some sort of hybrid LFA?

My guess is this is the test bed for the LF-LC engine, but there are also a lot of new aero pieces to. Maybe they are testing the aftermarket parts like they just released for the ISF CCS-P. Just a guess, it very well could be another special edition. I just think it might be hard to get the green light for 2 special editions of a car they were losing money on.

When Lexus say they are losing money on LFA, that includes all of the cost of the purpose-built factory, all of the special R&D to build all of the components for the LFA including the engine.
Now, with all of that done, technically Lexus can actually make money and profit by re-using most of the components and tweaking them to develop a better and improved LFA 2.
They also need a production LFA next year to compete in the Nurburgring racing otherwise, they have nothing to go head to head with the best cars there.

Lexus Champion
They never did go head to head with the best cars there. They have always used a production based LFA. The 'best there' are the GT3's. I doubt Lexus will make a GT3 LFA. The street car already approaches those cars in terms of price. A racing version of the LFA would be great, but I doubt it's going to be running VLN races

The first picture in this video shows Lexus factory test driver driving it. That confirms it is actually a Lexus prototype and not some tuning company developing parts for it.
