What is up with the Porsche taillights blinking.........wouldn't that be distracting to the driver behind?

It is the LED lighting, blinking only captured on camera.

Great vids of the LFA swinging around the ring like that, I can't wait for the 24Hr Nurburgring!

I am sure the top 5 finish was way better than what Lexus was targetting. The 4 cars ahead are only heavily modified cup or SP9 class cars.

Out of the 29 GT3 Cup cars competing, only 3 of them could beat 1 single LFA. That is with the GT3 Cup killing the LFA on the straights with 480 HP due to heavy restrictions LFA has in the SP8 class.

Provided LFA does very well in the "24-hours Nurburgring race", I am almost positive Lexus LFA next year will return in the SP9 class with heavy modifications and almost 100 more horsepower to the tune of close to 600 HP, weight reduction and extensive suspension mods.

That is what it will take to be the overall winner. An SP8 class car placing in the top 5 is already an astonishing feat, but to win overall, it needs to those restrictions removed and heavy modifications.

Default Gazoo LFA specs

Straight from their website
http://gazoo.com/racing/english/grmn...il_lfa2010.asp

In May 2010, this LEXUS LFA entered the 38thNürburgring 24 Hours endurance race in Germany under the GAZOO Racing team. The car is based on the commercial LEXUS LFA that was unveiled in October 2009, with the underbody, the aero parts, the brakes, the tires and the wheels lightly tuned for racing.

Working as one and conquering many difficulties right from the qualifications, the team and the LFA finally scored an in-the-class victory in their third year at Nürburgring 24 Hours

Maximum output Over 367kW(500ps)

So there you have it.

500 PS = 491 HP with 3350 lbs

I really hope Lexus ups the game and enters next year in the SP9 class. I am tired of clueless haters on youtube bashing LFA for "getting smoked in the straights by the GT3 Cup" when they don't know (or pretend to be oblivious) SP8 is a heavily restricted class.

A street LFA is a completely different story and will kill the GT3 RS anywhere.

I checked the specs of the Audi R8 V10 LMS (the winner). It is also putting out 500 PS.

The major difference is in the extensive suspension modifications and the weight (R8 LMS weighs only 2700 lbs).

More importantly autosport print edition is reporting that Toyota is preparing an LMP1 car, testing a Dome LMP car, open and coupe, but that's not all- a GTE car based on the LFA is also being tested! Toyota is looking to be a serious player in the future LeMans, pray for a red coupe successor to the GT ONE lmp car, that's my wish. BoP is claiming the car's MAX hp (580ps), no way it makes that power being air restricted.
Toyota was already a part of Le Mans this year, on a small scale:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/car...le-mans-2.html

I posted in that thread, Toyota supplied a specially prepped RV8K engine to Rebellion Racing that they used in their Lola chassis LMP1 car. They finished 6th overall and it was the TOP finishing gasoline-powered car.

Since Toyota pulled out of F1, and has now participated several years in the Nurburgring 24 hours race with Gazoo, I fully expect Toyota to launch an all-out assault on Le Mans in the coming future. What Toyota learns at each 24 Nurburgring race is filtering down to production cars, and the same thing will happen from Le Mans participation.

Yes it was. The 09 car was identical. They don't have anything on the 11 yet.
I noticed that the 4 and 6 hrs VLN runs are called practiced runs to fine tune the car for the 24 hrs run.
Also the track total length is 25 KM, which I think is a lot longer than the normal track where 'Ring time is set by other car companies.

Its way longer, they use a shortened version of the GP (F1) track combined with the Nordschleife. So an extra 3 km or so tacked on.

I know this might not be the right thread but TMG only supplied engines to Rebellion racing, which I might add finished 6th place overall and top petrol non-diesel car. This story I'm speaking of has Toyota coming back to LeMans full force with a works LMP- and a possible LFA in GTE! This is huge news.

A question though- The Ring cars have an LED strip on the corner of the headlights, does the production car have the same?

Correct, 4 and 6 hour VLN are just "fine tuning" races to prepare for the big race, the 24 hour one. Also, the track length includes the F1 track, so it is a longer configuration than what is used for 'Ring times by car companies.

With the F1 track being 5 Km or so, I guess the Gazoo LFA, with qualifying time of 8:32 minutes, can do the regular 'ring in under 7 minutes. That would be a good thing for the production 'ring edition.

Guessing that it should do about that or so too.
