MR F1 (I love that handle, BTW), didn't Car and Driver have a chart showing 75 HP less on their dyno? That's a huge variance, although it was on a Mustang dyno IIRC. However, this test shows that this particular motor is strong and common sense tells me it's hard to tweak a high-strung motor. If the LFA has 600 HP, it will show in Inside Line's upcoming drag and acceleration tests. I hope it, at the minimum, matches the Italia's times and smacks the GT-R in all tests. There's nothing more that I can't stand than a GT-R fan boy.

I don't want to get caught up in the hype either, and of course I'll temper my expectations till a few other owners take a trip to the dyno, but it's pretty hard not to be flabbergasted by what seems to a 4.8l engine spitting out around 600bhp. Makes me wonder if the N ring version will get an actual 10hp bump or if the bump will be on the spec sheet only.

I wish they'd get it to a scale

I wonder what kind of fuel they were using. Since it's in Cali, wouldn't it be 91? Over here 93 is premium.

Interesting development. I hope they have the LFA up to 650 HP by 2012

These numbers are probably true as I recalled that both the instructor and I had a hard time getting clean acceleration runs in this very same LFA at Infineon. We were losing tractions in 2nd and 3rd gears. They blamed the track surface, but perhaps LC was required to handle all this power?

lol, thanks. WRT C & D's dyno, I dunno if that can be drawn down to the fact that it was a prototype... I guess we will have to wait on more dynos to see. I too hope it can smack the GT-R and the 458, though I'd rather keep my expectations low and be pleasantly surprised.

I also find it interesting.

If it was so underrated out of the box, should it not have been beating "lesser" cars a la the GT-R surprising everyone at "450" hp?

Or do you think that they've changed the production cars from the way they set up the original test cars that have been shown over the past year?

If it is underrated in the production cars, it will sure be interesting to see what some of these comparisons look like now.

Looks like they're doing the testing at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana. Maybe I should swing by today and see whats up.

I really appreciate what Edmunds is doing here by giving us a play by play of their daily activities with the LFA. Its also very cool that they handed the keys over to a couple of their readers (strangers ) as well . It should make for a good read/review in the coming week.

I wonder if they will let a few other publications do the same or something similar soon.

It did beat the GTR in the comparison against MotorTrend and that was still an early prototype. It also trapped 5 mph higher at the 1/4 mile.

Remember the keyword written in the title. It is the first "production LFA".

I had mentioned earlier the prototype (white one) was dyno'ed by MotorTrend at 435 wheel HP (GTR dyno'ed at 378 wheel HP).

This production LFA came out 1 year after that. It seems to be a different beast. I agree they conducted the track tests today, which will tell how these numbers translate in the real world.

They weighed the LFA today and with a full gas of tank it came out to be 3546 pounds.

This is a production model and not a pre-production one right? Crap, they need to re-test the LFA with production models with low miles again
