1997 SC400 Royal Sapphire Pearl/Black 55K Excellent Condition for sale $14K!!!
Hi...I just recently purchased my first house and so my baby has to go...
Here's a bit of her history:
I purchased this 1997 SC400 Royal Sapphire Pearl (original not repaint) from a lady in Chicago in summer 2010. She purchased it from the local Lexus dealer who had it displayed in the showroom as a used car at Mcgrath Lexus in Chicago/Westmont (I still have the keychain she gave me lol). She told me that she went in to look at another car and fell in love with the color of the SC sitting in the middle of the showroom. Surprising?!!
Originally the car is from Florida I believe and the retired schoolteacher only drove the car in the summertime as can be evidenced from it's amazing condition and lack of rust.
I hired a mechanic/appraiser online to check out the vehicle before flying out there to purchase it, and he responded with an excellent report. He even mentioned to the lady that he would be interested in purchasing it if I opted out!
She decided to sell the Lexus in order to purchase the new AWD version of the G37. She was tired of maintaining two cars all year round and wanted one car that was sporty and could handle the elements. Unfortuntely she relayed to me that after her first week of ownership of the G37 she got hit and run(ned?) in a parking lot. Ouch!
I flew out the Chicago to inspect the car, was impressed with it's overall condition--the engine bay looks brand new, the interior has no rips or crack, even the air conditioning vents are not cracked as is the case with the SC. I previously owned a 95 SC300 with cracked vents. The lady's birthday wish every year to her son was to have her car detailed/clayed/polished at the Lexus dealer and it showed. The exterior is amazing for a 15 year old car!
Upon finalizing the price, I had dinner with her son and he dropped me off at the airport. I arranged to have a shipping company ship the car in a covered transport to Los Angeles. I have pictures of my baby's arrival attached.
Things I have had replaced on the SC include:
New Tokico Struts
New Tanabe Springs
One replaced lower control arm
New Engine Mounts
Exchanged stock chrome great condition rims (still have them with new Goodyear Eagle tires) with G35 rims
Otherwise stock condition.
Also:
Regular oil changes with Mobil 1 Synthetic
She replaced the timing belt/water pump at 42K at the dealer
Tinted the windows
Garage kept
Head turner.
You must see this beauty to appreciate it. Correct me if I'm wrong but I heard that there were 56 RSP SC300s made in 1997 and 25 SC400s. I also heard that among the 25 SC400s only 5 had black interior. Again, these are just numbers I have researched so I apologize if I'm off base. I remembe reading about the mystique of the Royal Sapphire Pearl in an auto magazine in 1997 and always wanting to find a clean one...thus the trek to Chicago!
This is basically a wonderfully maintained car has a lot of life left. It has been meticulously maintained by all it's owners and it shows. Needless to say I have the clean title in hand.
If there are any "issues" with it, I must admit that although the Nakamichi Sound System sounds amazing, it distorts a bit at high levels. This is the original stereo/speaker system remember! The CD changer in the trunk works but if you hit a large bump it may skip. I think this was common for CD players in 1997. I have a cassette hooked up to my iPod and it sounds fantastic (not a big fan of FM modulators).
Also, there is a tiny, miniscule dent on the passenger side of the body panel that you have to really focus on to see. I was taking a set of barbells out of my baby and trying to close the door with my elbow and it tapped the panel. Ugh!
As I mentioned before I recently purchased a house and need to free up some funds. My other car is a Toyota Tundra Doublecab 4wd and I need it more for errands and work--and unfortunately my baby has to find a new good home. The lady I bought it from even mentioned that she was happy it was going to someone that was going to maintain it well. I sent a pic of her on the beach back to her when I got it out here lol (that I've attached). She even sent me a Chicago Deep Dish Pizza for Christmas!
My asking price is $14K. I think that is more than fair with regards to its condition, mileage, and rarity. If you are looking for a RSP SC400 then look no further.
Please either call me at 626 590 6240, text, or PM.
Thank you very much for your time and I hope to hear from you soon.
