SORRY GUYS THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER FOR SALE. THE INSURANCE COMPANY IS GOING TO FIX THE CAR. THEY SAID THE VALUE COMPARED TO REPAIR COST WARRANTS THEM TO FIX IT. I will remove the ad once the interested parties get a chance to read it.


My car was rear ended by a lady last week. The guy at the bodyshop wants to buy it from me (if i buy it back from the insurance company). I was wondering if anyone on here would have a need for it. I have gotten a lot of great information off this website and figured I would give you all a chance first.

LEXUS DEALER SERVICED 90% OF THE TIME (i have a printout of all repairs)
TIMING BELT/WATER PUMP REPLACED AT 51K
DRIVE BELT, TRANS FLUID, DIFF FLUID REPLACED AT 71K
NEW TIRES AT 75K
NEW BATTERY 5 MONTHS AGO
WILL NEED FRONT BRAKES SOON (the brakes came in the day after the wreck. haha)

THE ESTIMATE FOR REPAIR WAS $6,700

The insurance company hasn't contacted me yet but I imagine they will total it. I have to list a price so I will say $3000 OBO. She hit me hard enough that the intake air hose came apart between the air filter box and the intake. I reconnected it at the tow yard and the vehicle idles. Thanks fellas.

the problem is i don't know what i can buy it back for yet so it's hard to give a bottom line price. i'm waiting for the insurance company to call me. i wanted to drive the vehicle when i got to the bodyshop but they had it blocked in. i can't say 100% honestly if it will drive fine. once the insurance company contacts me i can give you a price.

i have the master key, sub key, emergency key, (just the metal key to get in the door) owners manual and original window sticker. the vehicle was bought new at Sewell Lexus and this printout shows the complete history (other than 2 oil changes that i had done outside the dealership). I'm the 6th owner i think. I flew to Texas and drove it back to NC in 2003 with 54k miles on it. It took me 6 months to find this model year/color combo with low miles. any more questions please ask.

Well, you buy it back at approx 10% of value - so if they book your car at $9000 you can buy it back at $900 from them... From what I understand at least

cool. the bodyshop guy told me it was usually 12-18% of the value but i was thinking more like 10% like you said. I know my steeda cobra was valued at 12k and I bought it back for 1,100. Now I just have to wait and see what value they put on it. I should get the call Monday.

Well if you want to collect the 100% of the car then; I can buy it directly from your insurance company if you want since I am a license dealer. PM me with details once you get info from the insurance comp; since more then likely there are going to deem the car as salvage once they total it out. If we can agree on something; then I'll come down there w/cash & my truck/trailer to pick it up.

wow that rt rail and rear body is busted also the floor needs to be replaced i guess. looks like rt rail, floor pan, rear body panel, deck lid, reinforcement, etc needs to be replaced and some q-panel repair or replace depends on the damage. i wish i could pick this up from ya if you were closer... glws
