Default DAC AUX vs. Apple Lightning Cable

Hi all,

I have an RX450h 2020 with ML sound system, and I was wondering if I can enhance my sound output with a DAC. Currently, I am connecting my iPhone through the lightning cable and use the "tidal" app to play music. Is it worth buying a DAC and go through AUX or is the built-in DAC good enough?
Also, I am never sure if I should go for the surround sound option in the settings or not. Let me know what your setup is.

Many thanks in advance for your support.

Best,
Oli

08 ISF with the ML system. The 08's don't have the bluetooth capability that you have, our only options are the cd player, aux, or grom. I installed an aftermarket subwoofer and wanted more tunability than the stock system gave me, and after a lot of research i ended up getting the Fiio BTR15 DAC.

I love this thing. Buying the unit itself is nice, but theres an app that you can download that gives you the opportunity to tune your stereo to sound exactly as you want it to. It has an EQ that lets you tune the different bands, and you can have different presets (so i have one for the car, and one for my Grado headphones). Got it on ebay for 85.
