Default opinion on 2006 navigation unit

hi guys,
i really want the navigation unit in my 2006 is250...aftermarket is extremely limited. was the navigation system easy to use and a good program? is it too antiquated now both soft and hardware? id really like to hear some opinions, its an expensive gamble even for used units at 700 dollars. thats alot of money to waste just because i like the way it looks. can i put an android operating system in an old unit? i think you guys get what im trying to ask and i look forward to reading your experience and opinions...i also rememeber seeing some aftermarket screens you can put in the unit?

stock navi is the worst. Looks old, maps are old, technology is old. Still works and looks like it belongs. Thats the only thing. Aftermarket will always look better
