Default Question on ditching the factory nav unit??

Does anyone know if I can ditch my factory nav set up to go to an aftermarket head unit and screen? I kow it can be done, but my main concern is the controls for my radio/ climate, etc. that works with the touch screen functions on the factory screen. I was wondering if the non nav climate control panel will just plug up to the same harness that I have now?

This might be a bigger pain in the a** than its worth just to get a nice clear TV screen up front, and some nnice surround sound, XM, etc..
