Solution to the USB issue
I encountered the no read issue with large USB sticks last season - here's the answer. It works. The problem is not unique to Lexus
I like to leave a 32GB or 64GB memory stick plugged in, in each of my cars. I discovered that there can be an issue with these larger drives and cars, cars don't like them. I'm not sure about Lincoln because I avoided the problem by formatting prior to using. Here's the issue: 1- Cars designers have set the USB readers at FAT32. If your stick is formatted exFat or NTFS, the car won't read it. 2- The sticks come formatted exFat or NTFS 3- Win10 doesn't like to format FAT32 anymore. It is not listed as a formatting option. The work around: 1- Format in DOS, this didn't work for me but has for others 2- Use a 3rd party partitioning program. I used AOMEI, there are others, it is a free download and did the job I now have a fully loaded 64GB stick in the car functioning well |
I want to clarify one moment: you can format your usb flash drive in any OS ( including Windows 10), not need DOS or any special tools. But you should choose big claster size when formatting. I chose 8192 bytes of claster size on my 32gb flash and now my IS250 see music on USB drive again! Hope this can help somebody, UPDATE: this method doesn't work with my another 16gb USB drive, I have tried to format to 4096b, 8192b, 16kb, 32kb, 64kb claster size. Nothing help. |
