Close up of the computer. This is simply a book PC which is set into a pair of mounting brackets that are screwed into the trunk floor. I rigged it so that it will NOT tip over, no matter how hard I am driving. The computer uses a hard drive from a laptop. It is designed to absorb shock and it does a very good job. I fly over speed bumps and the music doesnt skip at all.

Default the cockpit

This gives ya a general view of how the setup looks from the drivers seat. The faceplate is clear plexiglass w/ black adhesive vinyl. It fits very snuggly into the stock radio compartment.

Default the original keyboard

Remember this, Derek? As stated, this keyboard is used for the more advanced functions of the Winamp 2 program, which plays and organizes the MP3's. I use it to change playlists, do maintenance on the computer, or...if my passenger wants to play DJ, they just set it on their lap and go to town. It took me awhile to find one that fits in the glove box, but its nice to have it outta sight.

Default another shot

of the keyboard. For those of you who are wondering...yes that is my airbag sitting on the floor. Im in the process of getting my wood and leather steering wheel done from American Stitches. If you have the means, I highly recommend participating in this group buy.

This is the first thing you see when the system starts up. To be honest, I STILL get a hard on every time I see it. This was programmed in by Gavin. I dont know how he did it, but it looks hella sweet.

Default custom keyboard

Im especially proud of this piece b/c sometimes its a pain to use the full keyboard; this is MUCH easier to use. Plus, I did it myself w/out any help. The setup is self explanatory. The grey square is actually a touchpad similar to those found on a laptop. Not used very often, but good to have.

Default screen shots

Heres a few shots of the visualizations. The possibilities here are endless. Right now, Im running a program called Whitecap which was designed for Winamp 2. I dig it b/c the visualization reacts to the beat of the music VERY well. I edited out the files I didnt like and ones that are left are just mind blowing. I actually enjoy being stuck in traffic now.

SouthernSunGS: Its funny that you mention that. Ive had several peeps sit in my car and say "I didnt know they offered that as a factory option on this car" or "my friend has an sc300, but his doesnt have the monitor". It does look very clean and very factory...especially when "Lexus Premium Sound System" lights up.

Currently, I have the system rigged to play only MP3 (no dvd, nav, etc). I may consider these options in the future. Hope you guys enjoy the pics and gives help to anyone considering a flush mount monitor in their sc.

Doug

Not all aftermarket units look bad. My alpine isnt too bad and the color match pretty well. The dash kit I had made looks pretty clean too. I mainly added mine because 1) cd changer is in the trunk 2) full ipod support.

its pretty cheap too..im kind of debating whether i really want/need one..since my keyboard has a mouse joystick on there..plus my whole keyboard is wireless

but i am very impressed with that "lexus premium sound" start up screen! that would be very nice to have on my carpc. just small touches like that really bring it out..i love it! nice install too..very clean

Thanks for the link pnyboy27, now let me return the favor. What you want to do is actually very easy, I've done it with all of my PCs. Just remember you are limited to 16 colors...or it might be 8, I don't remember.
