Default 99 GS400 - Out with the Nak, in with 2din Android

Hi all,

I'm planning on replacing the Nakamichi head unit in my recently acquired GS400. headunit, speakers and amp appear to all be working fine but I'd like to modernize the interior with a double din touchscreen unit. I'd like to just get a budget Joying/Eonon unit or similar.
Has anyone else installed something similar?
I have already ordered a double din fascia kit to for the GS. Is there anything else i need to know? (I have installed a bunch of CD players when i was much younger so not totally going in blind).

Thanks in advance,
Julian

if you can post a link for the double din and accessories that would be great.. Like face plate etc.. I would like to run the torque app and monitor the GS.. Only problem i have an iPhone.. Would this radio still be compatible?

i just went on aliexpress and they have some great deals.

This is the install kit I got
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Metra-95-815....c100005.m1851

I haven't decided on the actual unit yet, I'm struggling to find reviews of units that don't seem to be paid for. but yeah, aliexpress, ebay, amazon, geek.....they've all got plenty of options. Many have the ability to do screen mirroring as well so you can plug in your iphone and it'll display what your phone is. Handy for Nav or spotify without creating a hotspot to share data with the unit itself.

Let me know if you find one that looks promising
Julian

Not as yet. I've been focused on some of the more pressing matters on the car (AC servos, done. Filthy interior, a work in progress. Front suspension, yet to get it up in the air. etc)
I am still doing research into which unit to get, I have this one on my short list (http://www.ebay.com/itm/7-Android-6-...19.m1438.l2649)
I will certainly update this thread though when there is progress.

Cheers,
Julian
