Hey all,

I am thinking of installing a hands-free pro kit for my Samsung SCH-A530 in my GX470... I wanted to know
if anyone has installed any kits with their factory NAV and if there is a MUTE wire on the harness (regardless of vehilce model). I am referring mainly to the 2003 vehicles.

I'm not sure about your phone but i have noticed that the mute function works for few newer model phones. Mainly the digital ones. Especially since most handsfree kits bypass the internal speakers of your car and use their own external speaker.

 

I installed a Nokia Car Kit and connected it to the mute wire for my Alpine head unit... I ended up disconnecting it because it completely cuts out the sound from the radio, and I wanted to at least have background music on while taking calls.

Not sure if the stock units have a mute wire, but even if there is, I would prefer not to use it...

 

Yeah... Alpine definitely has a mute wire i wish Kenwood had one .... but then again i don't even have a handsfree kit anymore. With the free earplug, i just can't see spending over $100 on a handsfree kit that only works for one type of phone. I switch phones all the time. But i have had my Nokia 8890 for a while now.
