Leatherlip

I have connected my Ipod classic to my car via USB, and it plays. However, I select a playlist and shuffle/random and it plays songs outside of that playlist. I also try using Genre but it also plays other genres then what I've chosen.
Is this a known issue? I've seen a lot of other issues mentioned here, but not this particular one (that I have found anyway). For my use, if I can get it to play within the selected playlist of genre, I'll be ok.
