On my '98 GS400, trying to replace the terrible aftermarket subwoofer with stock, yet can't figure out the ohm.

Bought one used on eBay, and it came in at 2ohm. Bought another one from the local salvage yard, and personally pulled what appeared to be a never-touched factory subwoofer, and it was 6ohm.

HELP! I'm reading on some threads the factory subwoofer is 2ohm, yet I pulled a 6ohm subwoofer out of a car that matches my year, and also had the Nakamichi (which is why I got it, in the first place)

Thoughts?!

I'm not sure about the GS, but the SC of the same year range has available both Pioneer and Nakamichi subs, which I believe are 1 ohm and 5 ohm, respectively. That's pretty close to what you measured and could explain the discrepancy.

My Nakamichi sub doesn't have the brand marked on it, but I can't remember if my old Pioneer did.

Crud. I hit up my eBay purchase history, and the subwoofer on the auction doesn't say Nakamichi... it might have said it on the body of the auction, yet it has aged to that the auction is no longer viewable. Crud.

So I'm going with I bought the wrong subwoofer on eBay, and got the right one at the salvage yard, and these are the parts/ohms:

86160-3A310 - 2ohm Pioneer
