Default How to install AUX outlet?

I have 06 GS and it does not have the AUX inside the armrest like the 07+ GS. I'm planning to make it look OEM because I want to add a device in there in the future.

Is it possible to add a AUX outlet? and how/where do I connect it to? I don't mind sacrificing and custom drilling some holes to make it run through hidden. And where would I be able to buy a digital one at a fair price?

VAIS seems to be the most popular supplier for Lexus: http://www.vaistech.com/dev/sl2u.php

Or check out the ones from iSimple or look on eBay.

Installation is probably similar for any of them - instructions are on the VAIS web site. It's usually pretty easy to remove the radio from Toyota;/Lexus vehicles to do an install like this - necessary tools are usually a 10mm socket wrench, phillips screwdriver and plastic trim removal tool. Whether you have to do any drilling depends on where you prefer to install components and on lengths of cables supplied with the interface product.

Here is a link to the Lexus Europe iPod kit installation instructions for a GS similar to yours - might give you an idea of how it's done: http://www.lexus-tech.eu/aimuploads/...20000898-0.pdf

If you are only installing a simple aux-in that is not controlled through the head unit, the glove compartment is not a good place to put the port.

Hmm, that is useful info, I will take note of that when I do the install, thanks!

What do you think about these products? They're fairly cheaper than other ones I've found and it does and has what I'm looking for, main a AUX oulet.

I'm planning to put it inside the armrest so in the future I have another unit I can connect to the AUX and have it charge in the 12v.

Most people are not very satisfied with FM modulators but it depends how particular you are. Search this forum for "modulator" and you will get some hits and opinions.

The "TOY03-AUX2 by PIE" is a vastly more sophisticated product. You might want to check to see if it has a built-in ground loop isolator - if not you may need to get one if you want to charge your audio player while you listen. I bought a PAC ground loop isolator in Amazon for US$12.00 but like I said you might not need one - the following thread about the aux-in I had a stereo repair shop add to the Nak radio in my 00 LS has a photo of it: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...000-ls400.html
