I've listened to a system very similar in a Nissan Maxima. It was a show car for SoundEx, a shop that is local to this area. Results, at least to me, it sounded muddy. A bit better than average compared to stock systems out there, but for some wierd reason it just didn't have the clarity. Of course, being a showcar representing the shop, they were probably more concerned about the installation than the actual tuning.

But then again the guy was running a PXAH600 (YUCK!) and an ERAG320 "lightshow" processor. Stay away from these two units if you're into anything resembling sound quality. Since you don't have any of these processors, it should sound fine.

System goals?

I have a similar system and I am very happy with it. The Boston Pro series are among the best in actual in-car testing without eq adjustments. My laptop showed a nearly perfect frequency response with the 6.5s on a sweep. They only dropped in the 100hz and below. This may be different for you, but in my Ls400 it was very nice. The most amazing part about it is that they are in stock locations. With the pxa-510, I can adjust for the time it takes for the sound to ariive at the listener. It also has nearly unlimited potential in the parametric eq dept. I know the Bostons aren't meant to have a lot of bass so I don't see why some people on this forum don't like them. I feel people want it to sound like a full-range home speaker when it is not. I have listened to many speakers in my car and have compared them to my $30000 HOME SYSTEM. With the subs on, I prefer the car system in many areas- which is what I was striving for. I want you to do a test when you get it all installed. Go in to your local high-end home theater store to sit and listen to the opening scene of saving private ryan. Then take the dvd and compare it with your car system. Make adjustments accordingly. I have done this and it made a big difference. Good luck

Can you clarify the use of both rear fill and trunk speakers? I'm thinking the trunks are so you can listen to the tunes while checking out the amp rack and sub install? If so, are these switchable or are they on all the time?

Default trunk spk

The trunk speakers are for exactly what you said. They serve to function only at car shows when my system is displayed. They will be on a switch. In between the speakers will be a monitor as well. It's merely for show.
