Stereo gurus...please help !?!
I have a problem in my GS300. Whenever i use the lumbar to inflate there is a small whine and a pop once i let go of the button. Also noticed a small tick when using the gas door release. The pop only comes from the left rear speaker.
This is what i have installed. Eclipse Head Unit 8361, Audio Control EQS, Phoenix Gold 500.4 for the mids and highs, and 600.2 for sub. Also i have a 15 farad cap.
The place that has installed it have spent many hours trying to diagnose the problem with no luck. They say it may be th RF freqencies that the lumbar switch or module creates.
Any help would be appreciated.

JP,
Tell them to put a meter on the signal wires or power wires to isolate where the noise is coming from. Should not be all that hard to isolate and fix.
You paid for a pro...ask for him now

JP,
I would be glad to take a look for you.. but I have a ton of faith in the shop you had do the install. I would have them try pulling a new clean pair of speaker wires to that left rear. If that is no help, then try pulling the left rear RCA out of the amplifier and plugging it into a boom box or other isolated source (I use a cheap radio shack unit Cat.#: 277-1008). If the noise is still in that line...then pull the headunit and check the output of the EQ...still there...pull the output of the CD.... If it is in the cd then isolate the +B and Ground wires to the CD player by using a standalone battery not mounted to the car...
One of those links is picking up the RF or is shorted. Just have to do the work and track it down. Takes about a hour to accomplish.

MW,
I really appreciate all your help. Im heading there today around 1030 to see what they say. I believe they have tried all your ideas except the speaker wire. One of the installers thinks it is a bad batch of Eq's. The strange thing is, when they bypass the rear channel of the EQ there is only a minor tick. But they took a brand new one and the same problem occurred. I may end up going with a different EQ, but i will see what they have to say about it today. They have spent about 2 days trying to figure this annoying problem out. Thanks Again, Jason

Do you have the preamp (RCA) leads running from the head unit or EQX past the driver's seat to the rear? In the trench? You may have a bad shield ground for the left rear, or the run may just be TOO close to the seat. If they haven't tried moving the cable runs around, assuming all else fails, then you may want to try that...and/or try swapping out the preamp cables for the rear with different (better?) ones.
