Default Stereo numbers acting funny

Lately the digital numbers in the stereo are acting funny, they are not "complete." In other words, the 9 might look like a 4 or the 7 may look like a 1. Is this something I can fix? Is this a known problem? Car just out of warranty. Thanks.

Known problem with almost all Lexus vehicles. The clock on my 90LS does the something similar, but the LCD liquid is leaking and when it's cold the whole display turns black.

There is a place somewhere in CA that repairs car (im sure anything else too) LCD's. Don't have the address though. Maybe someone else?

A new unit from toyota will run you at least $300. A decent payment off the car note if you ask me, ;-). If you're still paying on it of course. hah.

Is this covered under the warranty? I see this happenning to my GS also but it works some days and does not work other days! I guess that I should get replaced if it is under warranty!

LCDs will go screwy after a while. Sometimes they get goofy when it's hot, and then go back to normal when it cools down a little.

But I've noticed this problem on a lot of old/cheap LCDs, not just in cars.

Yes, 4 years/50,000miles which ever comes first. Just call Lexus dealer and tell them of the problem and the brand of your radio(Pioneer or Nak) and you got a 2000 GS, so it's don't have Mark Levinson on the 00'. Let them order the radio for you and when it come in just make an appointment.

Default GS-300 Radio display problem

Macondawg,

Hi, I am Cleeve with La Jolla Audio Repair and I believe that you have a Pioneer KEX-M8076 head unit. The displays do go out and we service the radios for the Lexus dealers in San Diego, Ca.
The charge for the repair is under $200. The turn around for the repair is one day here. If you would like to get it done then contact me direct at my Web site: www.lajollaaudiorepair.com
