01 GS430 System + Trunk Pics
Ive been toying around with doing a system the right way for a while... Everything has a story...
When I bought my car in 2008, it had no speakers except stock tweeters. I got 1200.00 of the price because of this. As soon as I got the car home from NJ, I immediately installed 5.25 Kicker components and 4" coaxials in the rear. Found a stock subwoofer 30 bucks in the classified and was good to go...
In 2009, I found out about an alternative to the expensive options, bought a Grom Audio Ipod interface kit. Installed it and then was able to ultilize having an iPhone. Install was easy, sound quality is decent and sure beats the tape deck to headphone jack.
In 2010, I found a guy in craigslist that was selling a Kicker KX1200.1 & A Kicker L7 15" together for 260.00. So I picked them up, despite not wanting to do a system in this car when I got it (had one in every one of my first 4 cars including 4 12s in a ford taurus wagon but we wont go there).
I picked up a ReQ, got an amp rack built and installed it. I obviously got the reQ to retain my factory stereo and Navi.
A few months ago, my L7 blew and I was on the search for something more....
For 1 day, my girl friends 12" Alpine type Es were in the car I included a picture of that as well lol.
I ended up picking up a 1.25cu ft sealed 12" box and a 12" JLw6v2. I threw that in the car and broke in the sub as I started sourcing other parts. (see picture of w6 and sealed box)
I finally got everything together and had SoundCraft Car Stereo Install it in CT. Josh Brunelle, recognized as Top 100 Installer by Mobile Electronics was a part of the install.
This is what we ended up doing:
Stock Navi
JL 300/4 V2
JL 500/1 V2
JL 12 W6v2
Custom Slotted Enclosure
ReQ
Grom Audio Ipod/Iphone interface
Kicker Components/Coaxials (replacing these with 6.5" Polk MM6501 & MM651 when the adapter plates come in)
Overall, Im very happy with the outcome and appriciate being able to use my trunk again. If anybody needs any work done in CT, especially if custom, They are the place to stop. If you look at that top 100 list, Josh is the only one who is recognized in the entire state of CT. The shop as well has been part of their top retailer lists for many years too.
Here are the pictures; I included pictures of the generic setup I had them do originally with the L7 and the KX1200.1. Mind you I was solely just looking for function then which is why I didnt drop the $$$ initially.

Im getting a JL grille put on friday. Im putting the Polk interiors in on tuesday. So Im going on friday for a retune on the 4 channel and to get the grille added.
They were out of stock the day I got the system put in. I didnt buy the W6 from them and they were throwing it in anyway (which was nice of them).

Loving the "old school" less is more style!!!!! I saw Josh's name in ME!! Being in the Northeast myself I'm always looking to see who's on the list in my general area.

I wanted to update the thread because Im going to finish my Dynamat and include pictures of the install. The inside of the trunk is done already, but Im not taking all that apart for pictures. Im going to do all 4 doors with Dynaxorb for the door speakers. Then Im going to hit the trunk lid possible the rear deck if I have enough left over. Stay tuned.

Thank you. I too am a fan of the conventional, clean look VS bright lights, fiberglass, inverted speakers, plexiglass etc.
