Default 1st Generation SC speaker upgrade

Hello all, I'm a fairly new lexus owner (95 SC300). I got the car with an aftermarket Pioneer touch screen radio in it but the speakers sound horrible. There is also a very noticeable feeback coming from it. I tried finding a ground that could be loose but everything looked like it was hooked up properly.

I also took the factory speakers out and went to my local car audio place to replace them. He told me that I would have to buy lexus speakers because any other brand would not sound right without customization...is this true?

If anyone could tell me if the feedback is a common problem with this car and how to get rid of it would be greatly appreciated. Also, what speakers have you used and got a good sound out of it?

Thanks in advance

Your local car audio dude is full of beans. The factory speakers are 4" and they probably don't have 4" speakers in stock so in their case it would need some custom work to put in 5 1/4s or 6 1/2s. If you want to keep it simple you can pick up 4" speakers online fairly easy. I just installed some image dynamics 4" speakers in the rear doors of my GS this morning and I think they sound great.
