Default Programming the NAV

I have not yet fully RTFM, (for my new (09) RX350 Nav system) but it shouldn't be so hard right? The one thing I can't seem to see up front is how to input a quick destination - without adding it to a memory location! If I just want to go somewhere once - I shouldn't have to assign it a memory button, but it's such an obtuse interface I'm not even sure that is possible.

Both my smartphone's navigation, and my Fujitsu/Siemens Pocket Loox w/Navigon are much much easier to use.

But keeping it on topic only please (not bashing the Lexus Nav)...
Can I somehow simply input the place and hit GO?

For instance, this Thursday I am going to a golf course I've never been to before, in a city I just moved to. It's easily seen in the POI list. What I can't figure out is how to simply select it from a list and say GO THERE.
