Although I was never excited about the sound quality in my HS250h, I got Acura MDX with Tech Pkg for my wife which has DVD-A system. Compared to that, I now hate my stock audio in my HS250 which is not even a year old.
I'm looking to upgrade but will not change any factory system. To be specific, I'm for the following -
1. Output options in the stock system - is there any line out option?
2. Although speakers sound good, not sure if there's a speaker in the center - even though I can see the grill but no sound ever come out of center.
3. Sub sounds definitely poor - looking for size of the sub so that I can replace it with a better one.

If I don't have line out options, I may opt to add audio processor (JL Audio Cleansweep). Definitely looking at adding external amps.

I'll highly appreciate any advice in this direction.

Well - here's what I've found so far -
One local place said -

FR & FL - 6.5"
RR & RL - 6.5"
Dash - R & L - 3" tweeters.
Center 3"

They didn't have info on the sub.

Best Buy seemed to have better information -

FR & FL - 6.5" components with tweeter in the dash
RR & RL - 6.5" components with tweeter mounted higher in the rear doors
Center - 3"
Sub - 8" free air
The tech at Best Buy was very helpful and found more info by calling someone else probably at their support hq. He also told me that the stock amp has separate outputs for 6.5" and tweeters. As such, installing an external amp would be complex as it'll need an external 6/8 channel line output converter which will sum the mids and tweeters!

One additional point - I've noticed that the tweeter in the dash does seem to be 3" but tweeter in the rear doors are probably 1".

You need a summing device with sperate signal device so you can fade for right ot left and front to back.

I think I'd need such a device with 8 pairs of input - 2 each for 2 fronts and 2 each possibly for 2 rears (even though I don't know if rears are separated from the unit)
And need 4 outputs - right?

is the audio system setup and details the same for the 2011 hs250h?

 

I think it should be - they don't change these things so soon - 2010 was introductory year and I'd think that audio system should not have changed for 2-3 years at the very least.
