12 disk changer
HAS ANYONE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THERE CD CHANGER SHOWING AN ERROR WHEN SWITCHING TO ANOTHER CD? MINE DOES WHEN IT GETS ABOVE #7 DISC. GUESS EITHER REPAIR OR REPLACE, ANY IDEAS OR SAME PROBLEM?
It could be your CD cartridge. My first one did exactly that. My new cartridge is just fine. You can even try taking it apart and putting it back together. The CD slots will loose their alignment with their location in the player. Otherwise.....get a new player.
the temp in the trunk sound like it could be the issue. i wish there was an exact answer to this issue. im sure lexus dealerships know what the cause is. i will prob take mine apart to clean it out but i want to know what the real issue is. if its temp, than i will figure out a way to vent the unit etc.
all lexus cars i have had have always had error issues. so annoying

Guys, dump the CD changers and free up trunk room and weight and get the IPOD hookup with 100's of songs to listen too at a push of a button....CD changers are something of the past... I dumped mine a year ago and would never go back to CD's now that Mp3/4's and Ipods are out...
Hardwire the ipod hookup, or get an Belkin am/fm transmitter, tape wire hookups works too. Sound quality will suffer a tiny bit without the hardwire head unit hookup...

I had the same problem before. I had the error msg.
My CD changer would not play any burned CD until I figured out that when I burn a CD, the writting/burning speed setting must be set at the max speed (24X - 3,600 kb/s).

PS: I just realized that this is an old thread (2002),
but it showed that Mr29rose did a search! Good job
