I just put a pair of PSD216 6.5" MB Quart components in my front doors. Power is by a Precision Power PCX5800. Sounds pretty good. I'm kind of a perfectionist and I have a question. Are the QSD's worth the extra money????
What about the Dynaudio's? I know Percy loves em. Are they better? I know it's all subjective, but I want to hear your opinions.
QSDs are the only MBQ speaker set that can come close to other competition. They are worth spending $$$ for sure. For pure listening Dyns are better but that is totally subjective. I suggest you find a shop that carries both and listen to them.
what model of Dynaudio's are good? What other speaker manufacturers fall into this "competition?" Focal? Boston? I'm asking about 2 way components - 6.5" speaker / tweeter separate / crossover.
The 24MKII is the common choice of 2 way comps. Pretty good set. Competition would be A/D/S, Focal with TLR tweets. IMO, Rainbow was putting a lot of heat on Dyns lately. Once people figured out how to install them and how long it takes to break them in, they get chosed over Dyns pretty often these days. Rainbows are like Focals in midbass / midrange department but not as sibilant at high levels. They sound a lot more soothing then Focals but at the same time they do not loose any detail and clarity. All subjective but I'd checked that out. Comes down to somelistening.
