New USA SPEC & IPOD won't Turn Off

I recently had the USA SPEC Ipod integration kit installed in my 08 Lexus ES 350. The unit works with no problem. My issue is when I turn the car off the Ipod should eventually go into the sleep mode or turn itself off. It doesn't. Is this a problem with the Ipod or with the USA SPEC unit?
