Eclipse AVN5500 + 4 more tv's wiring question
I just bought an IS300 with 4 tv's and an Eclipse 5500 in it. The tv's aren't working so I am gutting the car and re-wiring it. Can you tell me what to do with the parking and reverse wires on the TV's please?
These are just generic tv's so they aren't too complicated, but I don't know much about these setups. Also, if I need it as well..... I need to know how to bypass the dvd while car is in motion thing as well (perfectly legal, read on). I have to wire the rear tv's for my passengers, but I'm probably just going to remove the front one's for some stock visors. They are kind of annoying. I just got the car a few hours ago. Here's a pic of the set up for reference. :) http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d5...G_9818copy.jpg |
If it's using the video out on the Eclipse to feed a splitter, you shouldn't need to override the DVD lock. It will play only to the vid out.
As for the parking/reverse wires, not sure what brand it is and that may help. If there isn't a camera for backing up, there should be no need to hook it up to anything. Big Mack |
Thanks. :)
I have everything tonight after spending the day in the car working on it, but I still need to find the Vehicle Speed Pulse Signal wire on the IS300 so I can hook up the navi.... any clues guys? :) |
i can get you the wiring diagram from work and post it up what year is the is. on the avn's i dont believe you need to do a bypass of anysort besides ground the ebrake wire. sometimes you need to put a toggle switch on it, depending on the model. Some indashes if they sense a ground signal while the indash is turning on it will know you are trying to trick the system, if you put a toggle switch on it hooked up to ground and flick the switch after the indash loads it will simulate a ebrake type signal being sent. if you need some more info or tech stuff we can take this to pm's if you want

also for some reason if you cant get vid to work thru dvd/av1/av2 input you can use rear camera input hooked up to an ipod/external video source and have a switched on the rev. signal input wire goign to 12v and it will simulate a rear camera input.

Thanks guys :), I've been inside the car for 3 days re-wiring it and doing everything I needed to do to get it all correct. I just need to figure out what wire on the IS300 to hook the purple/white wire from the AVN. That's the speed wire for the navi.

Thank you my friend, got a location on that? Looks like *somewhere* in the drivers kick panel perhaps. I'd hate to grab the wrong plug.

"The ABS and traction ECU is above the driver kick panel." u should be able to meter the wire if you are that worried about grabbing the wrong wire. the indash is not sending a signal out to the wire just recieving and you could always put a diode on it. you can meter it by jacking up the rear put it on stands ptut he car in low/first and u can meter the wire. i forgot if speedo is on ac or dc voltage tho.

OK guys, much appreciated. I'll be doing this soon when I pull the climate to rebulb it. Will update you on the progress :)
Thanks again! :) |
You know when I first heard the location and color
I thought "Too easy, what will screw this up?" Yep....... I thought so.......... G'damnit. http://www.grabup.com/uploads/eeb0f3...03a.png?direct |

hahah epic fail, umm lemme see if i can get a pinout. worst case jack up the rear put the rear on stands and put it in 1st and let the wheels roll and u should get a reading on ur meter. but ya strip back, poke a hole thru the strands of wire. put wire thru wrap aroud tape/ziptie to relieve stress or u can solder and tape

Looking at that pic, it should be the one in the upper RH corner, IIRC. Strip a bit back (not cut) and poke the wire through. If it works like it should, make a proper connection. If not, wrap the wire back up and do the upper LH corner. I'm pretty sure it's the RH one, though.
