i've been wanting to know this for a long time...and i'm willing to spend $5,000 (excluding navigation) to get this to work. if it's a legit idea, and will work, lemme know. i've always been extremely dissatisfied with classic instrument clusters. i've always wondered...y isn't there just a BIG screen there!? a screen could show navigation info, speedometer, gas, etc...so why have out of date (in my opinion) manual gages when u can have dynamic ones that u can change the appearance of, the color, the size, what's shown, etc.

SOO..in short..can a screen been retrofitted in place of my instrument cluster?

navigation like this...however, not just a small screen...rather a big one that takes up the majority of the cluster


the only thing about this one is it looks like a screen in the place i want it...and a speedometer in the right corner


sort of like this but a regular square screen (for now...altho later i could custom fit an enclosure and edit the software to fit..)

are there nav's that have speedometer capabilities on them?

 

btw i'm pretty willing to b the guinea pig on this one..but only if there's a chance it'll work

The Kenwood/Garmin nav unit I added to our Corolla has a speed reading. Any aftermarket GPS should show MPH.

 

will it interface into an RX? and could that screen be put in place of my current instrument cluster?

(the nav doesn't have to have that incredible of an interface OEM...i can change it myself..)
