Default ML-Subwoofer

Guys,

My sub is blown.......

i tried to searh the forum and it seems like it is a very common problem with these cars but i couldnt find info that i am looking for....

I am looking to get an aftermarket replacement for it. What is my best choice with no or minimal alterations?

I am not looking to get a lot of bass out of it but need something that would provide same quality or better sound as the stock ML Sub...

Any help is appreciated

E.

look into free air subs..most alteration you would have to do is making a new bracket for the sub.

i know old kicker comps i think it is did the job.

Good luck finding those, they don't really manufacture free air subs anymore, at least not anyone good, try to go to a junk yard to get a replacement or try this idea if u want; go with a sub that fits right into the enclosure and find a box that fits the subs dimention's and specs and attach the box under the rear deck where the sub is placed.. thats what I'm gonna try to do, don't want a heavy box weighing down my trunk and besides, my rear SB would be in the way..

the new kicker c-10 works pretty well in the factory place off the factory ml amp ! just make sure which ever sub you decide to use you seal it really good to the factory mounting bracket !

Anyone know much power the ML system sends to the sub, enough to run aftermarket sub? 2002 GS430.

Eric,

I believe the factory ML system in the GS delivers 40 watts to the fr and rr speakers and 100 watts to the sub.
