Replace only oem deck with Kenwood CD player possible?
I have a 2003 IS300 I'm working on for a buddy.....
He only want a new aftermarket Kenwood deck installed but keep all the OEM stock speakers / amps?
The stereo shop sold me a harness that has 4 RCA cables and the power, ground, acc. connections. Will this allow the deck to work with the oem amp/speakers?
If not how did you guys install just a deck into a 2003 IS300?
Is this the right harness:
Part: F8113 (2000-2003 Toyota Celica)
thanks
rick

that sounds like the right harness. its the smae part number as the metra harness for toyota/lexus for amplified sound systems.
worst case scenario if there is no existing harness for that car, which is not the fact, you can locate the factory amp and at the amp there will be regular toyota radio plugs. what you do is run speaker wires from the back of the deck to the amplifier output plug.
just use the amplified lexus harness, the one you listed. it should work no problem.

I connected:
Orange: Illumination
Blue: Antenna power
Blue/white: Amp turn-on
Red: Ignition
Black: Ground
Yellow: Constant
The harness has 4 RCA's soldered to a total of 8 sockets on the harness so those must be speaker level outputs to the factory amp.
I plugged one set of RCA's from harness into Fronts and other set into Rear output on the Kenwood deck. These RCA's would basically carry low level signal ouput from the deck directly to the factory amp INPUTS correct?
Volume is really weak when we turn it up............?
thanks

ok I found one extra wire on the harness....
It's a black wire with white stripe that seems to be a common ground for all the RCA's - what does this wire connect to? Each RCA wire positive goes to one socket on the molex plug but it seems all the grounds merge to one single socket. This is the black wire with white stripe!
please help...

I am not sure if this will help you but I ran into a similar problem. I am going to install an aftermartket deck into my 01 ES300 and it uses the same Metra 70-8113 harness. My 99 ES300 use 70-8112 so no problem here.
You got 2 situation here:
1) Your factory amp is a digital one (JBL) and need a digital signal to turn it on. You will need TYTO-01 instead of 70-8113. It costs ~$80. My 01 ES300 use a pioneer amp (AFAIK) so it is no a problem.
2) Black/White wire is actually a Amplifier Shield Ground. Very limited info on this. Some says just no need to connect it, some says connect it to the aftermarket HU body for grounding purpose. Some actually connected it to the chassis and eliminated ground loop. If you sucessfully use this wire, please let me know. I will install it next weekend.
Hope this help!
