are they the brand new, this tears model? they are all right. i used to have just about every kicker sub that they made since 2004.

the kicker L5 from 2004 and 2005 i think were the best they made. in recent years kicker sold out and make cheaper chit. i worked for circuit city and got like 60% off on all kicker stuff and i still didnt buy the new stuff because my old kicker L5's that i bought were better.

you cant find the older stuff anymore as easily but the new stuff should be fine. i currently have the kicker single CVX 12" enclosure aand it have been good to me. had it now for about 3 years with no problems. i still miss my old kicker and the JL 12w6v2 i had. that was one of the best all around subs you can get. the price, retail at least, is not great but you can always find a deal

They get loud, I've never been a huge fan of their sound quality though.

For the price I'll take some ED 130v2s. Same power handling and awesome sound quality. THey might still have the dual 4 ohms on sale for 100 bucks as well.

You should check out the FI Q, Ficaraudio.com

If you can wait, stereo integrity has new magnums coming out soon that are supposed to sound great with low amounts of power too

There are many brands to choose from. It also depends if your into SQ or SPL. In my opinion, from my experience with kicker L5 and L7. I'm just not a fan of both of them. The SQ due to the corners of the sub lacks. Kicker Subs "Square", just can hit low well. And before someone bashes me about kicker subs and about there sound quality, "Yes I know they won a SQ competition at one point of time." The quality made by kicker ain't there also. Last night i had to glue down the surround with silicone, because the rubber came apart [L7]. It happen to me at least twice already. Kicker are loud subs, and thats just about it. In my opinion around your budget, I would suggest Alpine Type R.

If you want to "BOOM" around town....they'll work great. If you want SPL as well as quality sound look elsewhere.
