Default Illumination on 01 GS300 Headunit went out???

One side started to go dim on the factory headunit a while ago but now the whole little screen doesn't light up with the stations and controls, can I replace bulbs or anything if I take it apart, it this common...?

Thanks

I have a 2000 GS300 and my radio LCD screen is Blank, the radio works fine but I can't see anything on the Screen. does anyone else have this problem?

I purchase a newer OEM radio Head unit from a 2003 Lexus GS300, the Radio fits fine, but the Wiring plug on the back are different.

Is there a wiring diagram or a Adapter plug from the 2000 GS300 radio on to a 2003 GS300 radio?

thank you much

There was a significant audio system architecture change between 2000 and 2003 - can't imagine a 2003 GS head unit working with the rest of a 2000 GS audio system.

Your LCD screen could be replaced or repaired. The following California company recently replaced the LCD bulbs of the Nakamichi radio in my 2000 LS400 - maybe they can help you. http://factoryradioservice.com/index.php

They also added an aux-in to my radio - works great.

Thanks for the direction Jim,
i'll try to contact Factory Radio Service. Sounds like they offer what I need for Factory Radio repairs.

Sweet!
The aux-in version he installed on my radio has an on/off switch on the front and the aux-in on the back. He supplied a 6 foot cable. The cost was $85 not including shipping. The cool thing about the on/off switch is that it allows you to toggle between the aux-in and FM without disconnecting the cable from the phone, iPod, etc. - nice when those occasional commercials are playing on Pandora and Slacker. You may need a ground loop isolator too - cheap on eBay. Here is a thread about the aux-in on my LS400 radio: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...000-ls400.html
