so here's the deal...
I hooked up a dvd player to my 1994gs300 and got everything but subs hooked up. so I have all the wires ran for the sub, (power, ground, rca and remote) and well, when I get it all connected and try to get the amp to power up i get nothing...could this be a bad ground?? :dunno:
|
yes, it could be bad ground.
it could also be fried amp. where did you get it from? it could also be power cable. did you put in the fuse?(lots of people forget to put the fuse in after installation) check all your connections and make sure they are all hooked up nice and tight.good luck |
i tried another amp and it still didnt work and yes i put the fuse in and well i think its the fuse setup that i have im just gonna try the glass fuse instead of the wierd lookin one that i got...if that doesnt work then il just re-run all the wires and be sure everything is connected

do you have a current tester?
something like this...http://www.fab-corp.com/prodimages/freemeter.jpg that would be the easiest way to trouble shoot the problem and figure out where the current stops. |
Odds are, either your remote or power wire is not hooked up right . . . get the multimeter like Gsoup suggested and find out which wire doesn't have power and research it from there. I'm guessing its the remote wire . . . may not be triggering the amp to turn on due to a variety of issues. Do you have the remote wire attached to a relay (useful to make sure that you don't burn up the lead)?

even if the remote wire wasnt hooked up the amp would still turn on as long as it got power and im not even getting that so its not the remote i have that one down im just gonna get the new fuse set up this ones newer tech and im gonna stick to the old stuff i know that works...but il try that n get back...thanks tho everyone!

And for the record, we don't recommend using the "jumper" setup, but it could be an easy way to rule out your power wire. I'm just curious though, why don't you just shell out a few bucks and have it all professionally installed?
