I'm wanting to install one 12" JL sub in a ported box (preferably) in the following space in my GS4:

I'm planning on running Zapco amps (1 for sub, 1 for the rest of the system) and need a good enclosure for the 12" sub. I would rather not custom build a box if it can be avoided. Any prefab boxes out there that will work?

 

Well, GS_Fonzy told me that if you want a ported box, it will use up most of the trunkspace, so im guessing you pretty much have to go sealed to fit into that space.

thats a good site that shows you step by step how to make a good enclosure, for about 200$ and a good amount of time.

 

There's no way i'd build it myself. It isn't that i'm mechanically uninclined, it's just that i'm lazy! I want to put 1 JL 12" sub in the trunk that's ported. If i can't find a descent prefab box, i'll just have 1 custom made. I've just confirmed the box will most likely by powered by a Zapco i-2100; it may be used to power the rest of the system, dunno yet.

 

A JL what? w7 or w6 or what?

there is no prefab box made to perfectly fit in that space; that i know. a sealed box for 2 jlw3 fits perfect and a sigle 12 w7 ported will most likely need that same space. i think the box size is 31w 14t 12d. double check your self. box plus carpet makes a perfect snug fit.
