Default avic-d1 install gs400

decided about 10pm friday night i was going to do this the whole thing took about 5-6 hours which included hooking up the head unit, and running power/pre-out wires for the amp to the back. now i got to make some custom speaker mounts and install the amp(s).

hmm, you actually grabbed the speed sensor wire? i just did my avic-d1 in my gs400 a couple of weeks ago and i didn't grab the speed sensor... not because i didn't know how but i didn't want to. its been working fine so far... what is the difference if you tap or not tap into the speed sensor wire? what does it actually do? are you going to hook up an external dvd player to your unit? did you do the parking brake by-pass thing? btw, i see your climate control lcd is going bad?

I think its for when you go under tunnels, and cant get a GPS signal.

the speed sensor is for when the gps signal is not good, this can happen in tunnels, under heavy tree growths etc. i've had that problem with portable gps units in the past. also the vehicle dynamics will not be as accurate without the speed sensor hooked up.

are you going to hook up an external dvd player to your unit?
yeah but i want to get an ip-bus unit so i can control it with the head unit, those things are quite expensive.

did you do the parking brake by-pass thing?
yep, works like a charm

btw, i see your climate control lcd is going bad?
nah it just looks that way because of the flash, it's fine.
