In-Dash Nav Help for '96 LS400, please!!!!
Forgive me if I'm repeating a previous thread; however, I searched through the archives and I couldn't quite find a match for this particular issue. (if this is covered in another thread, a link would be greatly appreciated, for as I said I was unable to find this information!!!)
I have a '96 LS400 with standard audio, and an "in-glove" 6 disc changer. I'm dying to put in an in-dash GPS/XM/IPOD unit, and I'm pretty sure that I'm going to go with the Pioneer AVIC-D2.
The problem is, I'm a total newb/know-nothing when it comes to car electronics, etc. So, a few questions:
1) is this a recommended unit? My readings seem to indicate that it's pretty well respected.
2) How the heck do I go about installing this? Is there a thread, etc, that tells me everything I need (I couldn't find one...)? Will this even work (I'm pretty sure it will....)? Is there a piece of plastic, etc, that will make it look good (a double-din mount, etc)-- and, where can I get it?
(ok, that was a lot of questions rolled up into one, but they get across my main point which is: all help is appreciated.. and needed!).
I'll look forward to hearing from you very knowledgable/experienced types...
Thanks so much in advance!!
Regards,
Mark

Hey All:
For all you Massachusetts folk in the same boat as I was, just wanted to let you know that Jeff from Rayco (Lexis11) got in touch with me and offered to do the install for a reasonable price. I saw some pictures of his previous work, and it all looked great, so needless to say.... I'm psyched! :-)
I'll keep you all posted with some additional pics after the work is done (next week)!
