some tape adapters have the option of where to set the head. Others operate better on side 2 of the "tape". And some tape adapters just suck in general.

Sometimes you have to clean the heads. I had a problem where I was not getting any sound.

That is true, some adapters just suck. The one that came with XM was really crummy...ended up getting one from Radio Shack and no problem.

Yeah....I read some threads and I bought the Sony one for $20 at Best Buy. I returned it already. Should I try to flip it and maybe try out the Radio Shack one??? Also how should I clean the heads??? Alcohol on a swab or buy a cassette cleaner thing????

Oh yeah.......the sound was very low as well.

I tried that alcohol swab and nothing. The cassette cleaner is what worked. There could be something else going on though, but a lot of accumulation does occur in there. I actually had an extra XM tape and that did not work, but the Radio Shack worked like a charm.

Reminds me of something strange, I used to have a BMW 325i convertible with a Pioneer CD player in the trunk. The cartridge that came with the CD player neved worked, would always pop out. Took the one from my Aiwa home stero unit and it worked like a charm. Just one of those things.

Cool modulate

cassette adapters only work in one playing direction, may want to clean the capstand and pinch rollors, hope that helps

I would, if you have one, try something like a portable cd player or other audio thing you can connect via the cassette adapter just as a test.
