Lexus Built in Cell Phone Question LS/SC
I had a 1992 LS400 a few years ago that had the built in cell phone (analog motorola) I loved the phone, especially the speakerphone. I have since sold the car years ago and now have a 1992 SC400, however the SC400 I bought didn't come with the built in cell. My question is does anyone know how I could go about installing the original Lexus Phone in my car, it seems as if there is a spot on the steering wheel where the controls would go and also a spot in the armrest where the cell phone would plug in. But I also remember my LS400 having some type of Cell Phone (computer?) in the trunk next to the antenna mask, as well as the cell antenna that was on the back window. Wondering if anyone has any ideas how I can go about this and where I might be able to find all the old lexus original equipment (and what equipement I exactly need as I am only guessing, (phone, steering wheel controls, cords, cell computer)

I am sure you can find it around, post in the for sale/want to buy section.
But why? It was a great system in it's day, but you can do better. Why not just install a bluetooth system and utilize the newer technology?
I have a Motorola HF850 in my SC and it works great, mutes the OEM stereo on incoming calls.

Here is the deal:
Those old phones are analog technology; some may be TDMA technology.
Current handsets are either PCS, GSM or CDMA. Trying to get analog service for your car is going to be as easy as buying a brand-new 8-track from your local Wal-Mart. And if you *can* find service, they are going to charge you a million dollars a month, because it costs too much to run that service since there are limited (if any) analog plans available.
As mentioned before, get yourself a Bluetooth enabled handset (there are tons of them now) and a Bluetooth Car kit. Car kits run about 175-350...phones from 99.99 to 799.99
Good luck

The phone I had in my 1992 LS400 was analog. I think most of these phones are analog up to about 1994.

Understood.
Yep, I can understand. The factory system was very well thought out.
I know of many of those phone units which were tossed....
Check ebay or just be patient and one will proly pop up. But honestly, check out this unit here:

I have the 850, but the 1000 is even more robust.

Getting the Cell ECU from someone else, so now I guess all I need is the Phone itself and the steering controls with the mic.
