Default problem with radio, need help

I have a 92 400. Everytime I turn on the radio, the sound skips, every second. Sounds like a CD skipping. After a while, I guess when it warms up, its fine. Any suggestions?

sounds like your amp or your FM receiver is going out. Try AM stations and see what happens

Or it's the solenoid controlling the volume ****. Had a similar problem and that's what the problem was.

***EDIT*** WOOOPS!!!! MY BAD!!!! Got my problems confused! Definately your amp. You have the Nakamichi system? Replace with a new/used OEM and you'll be good to go.

Since your AM stations are working fine, then I think Iron Cobra is right. The FM receiver in the Head Unit. I don't know offhand if that is a repairable item or if a HU replacement is needed.

OEM - Original Equipment Manufacturer. Or something close to that. Basically means original equipment from the factory or an approved secondary company that produces equipment to original specs.

Not a stupid question! More stupid not to ask and wonder about it forever!
