Default ML system sounds funny

my ML system does not seem to be functioning properly. Here is the situation. If i fade the sound to the rear, i hardly hear the sub woofer. When i keep the all the sounds in the middle, most of the bass seems to be coming from the front speakers. I cannot tell if this is how it was when i first bought the car. I would think that the bass should be produced buy the subwoofer. It doesnt make any sense. Someone with a ML system please help me.

yeah, its like that with my car too. When I set it to the rear, you can hardly hear the sub. Thats because the rear woofer is hooked up with the front speakers. (on my pioneer system) BUT if you think your Woofer isnt kicking, try putting it to the middle and sit in the back, you can feel the woofer.

Thanks for the reply grand ls. Now i feel better knowing that mine isnt the only one that sounds like that. I find it strange how much bass is coming out of the front speakers. I think i will try sitting in the back seat like you suggested.

I have a ML system The fronts are 6.5 mid woofers and they will sound louder because your sitting close to them I thought my rear door weere not working right. Listen to the front and rear door at same sound level from the front seat ane then the rear seat and you'll see how much the the front seat backs block the sound.

The rear deck sub has a lower crossover frequency so you don't hear it untill lower lower bass note are hit plus the I think the biggest reason is that it is low powered. If you can adjust he output to the sub only it would sound alot better.

If you did not want to replace the whole system add an amp to the sum or better yet do an amp + a new sub. afew have done that for a major improvement.
This is my $.02 on the matter

I listen to some music with alot of bass some times so I've had luck with increasing the bass alittle and set the fade to the rear more. This seems to help for me.

Yes you can. but I beeleive you will have to get a converter to change the hi-level signal going to the sub to lo-level. I think that is better than connecting to the speaker leads ( if your amp has them) might want to confirm this.
It would really be helpfull if you get an amp with a wired remote level/output control that way you can adjust the sub level separate from the front seat. I Alpine & kicker has a nice one that several people posted last year some time.
I found this.
