Cool Pics Recently Installed an In-dash DVD

Ok I just detailed the interior of my car today (it was really clean before any ways) so I decided to take pictures of it. I recently installed the Alpine IVA-D900 in-dash dvd player along with an iPod adapter. The head unit was saved from my old car that I wrecked. I personally think the head unit makes the interior look nicer. This is basically my first mod!!!! Here are some pics...

May I ask why you bothered with the Ipod when you can put your entire collection of MP3's on you dvd?
How is the sound quality with the IVA's internal amp with the stock speakers?

I got this deck for dirt cheap when it came out about a year and a half ago. Its a long story. At my work, a buddy of mine told me one day that he might get an Alpine dvd player hooked up for 600 dollars from a buddy of his who works down the street at the bowling alley. He explained that his buddy was desperate to get rid of it because his SVT Focus was about to get repo'd at any givin moment because he couldnt afford the car any longer. After discovering that the deck is Alpine's top of the line deck retailing anywhere from 1500-2000 dollars, its a no-brainer to buy it at 600 dollars (dealer cost is approximately 1100??). In the end, me and the guy split the cost of taking it out of his car and I got it installed in my Chevrolet Cavalier. Year and a half later, my back tire blew out on a mountain road and the poor little Cavalier was destroyed, rolling off the road.

Anyways, the sound quality is decent using the pre-amp because the deck has time correction. It is obviously nowhere near as good as a nice component set powered by a nice amp

just as a fyi. I run an ipod connected to my alpine because i have 55GB of music in mine and love it! I can listen to any set or album without risking the 4k in CD's being stolen from my car.

The iPod interface is really dissappointing. Just to change albums, you have to select "Disc 2", "List", "Next". Also, you cannot browse it by genre. I dont know if other iPod adapters are any better though

well you could create a playlist by genre and be done with that problem easily also create a playlist per album.

Keep in mind Ipods are designed to run playlists, creative nomads are designed to run based on artist, genre.

Ive owned and sold the nomad. I love the ipod now. Plus the playback is crisp and clear.
