when i picked up my SC400 today, the old man that owned it gave me two pairs of keys. one pair is just regular key with no keyless button.

and other is with keyless button----BUT the key is all busted and the button is gone and its all glued up. the metal piece itself is still good and starts/opens the car. but the black piece is all hacked up.


im planning to buy a replacement for it in ebay. basically buy a whole used key and just switch the metal part of it to the new black piece..then reprogram it.


my concern is:

#1. FCC ID # on the back has to be the same one to which i have now? or that doesnt matter?
#2. anyone know how to reprogram it? (i tried searching the forum and found an instruction but its only for 98 up GS/SC/LS)

You are in for a major hassle to reprogram those keys. There is a sponser with a banner on the forum home page that does it. Good luck.

You can't do what you want to do. The remote portion and the key portion are molded into the shell. You can only replace one side of the shell.

Do yourself a favor and just order a new key from Sewell Lexus. With the 909RK discount code you are looking at $106.00 for a brand new key.
